RECOGNITION

Study within a recognised academic framework.

SIST’s approved wording states that the qualifications are internationally credit rated by Edinburgh Napier University according to the Scottish Credit and Qualifications Framework (SCQF) and approved by the Tertiary and Vocational Education Commission (TVEC), Sri Lanka.

Publication requirement: SIST requires website content, posters, videos and social-media materials to be reviewed and approved in writing by the SIST Marketing/Partnerships Team before publication.

YOUR ENTRY ROUTE

You do not have to start from the same point.

The programme offers multiple entry routes depending on your academic background.

Foundation

Ordinary Level

Progress through an accredited Foundation Programme in Science before Year 1.

Year 1

Advanced Level

Entry with a minimum of 3 S passes at Local, Cambridge or Edexcel A Levels.

Direct Year 2

HND

A Higher National Diploma may support direct Year 2 entry, subject to SIST academic requirements and transcript review.

PROGRAMME PATHWAY

Build your qualification in two clear stages.

Year 1

Diploma in Applied Microbiology & Biotechnology

120 Credits

A foundation in microbiology, cell biology, molecular biology, biochemistry, laboratory techniques, statistics and bioinformatics

Year 2

Advanced Diploma in Applied Microbiology & Biotechnology

240 Credits on Completion

Moves into advanced and applied areas of microbiology and biotechnology, including agricultural biotechnology, medical biotechnology, immunology, biochemistry and genetics.

YEAR 1 MODULES

A broad foundation across modern biological sciences.

The SIST source provides 16 modules for Course 1. The Course 2 module sheet is blank, so this page does not invent Year 2 module titles.
